YouTube and other major sites will escape penalty

Following Google's statement on the launch of a new algorithm that will penalize sites that violate copyright, SearchEngineLand editor Danny Sullivan discussed the question that YouTube can escape this.

As you know, the most popular video platform in the world often includes videos that violate copyrights. Still, Google representatives in the official response version stated that YouTube and other popular sites with user-generated content won't be affected by the new algorithm.

It's a question, if Google will take into account the number of eligible claims about removing content from the sites and will lower positions of those resources that are most often complain, so how YouTube is able to avoid punishment?

According to Danny Sullivan, Google representatives told him that the new algorithm will take into account not only the number of complaints. Will be important other factors and website characteristics that the search engine doesn't plan to disclose. But precisely because of these factors such sites as YouTube and other popular resources won't not below all in search results.

As examples of these “other” sites Google led Facebook, IMDB, Tumblr and Twitter.

Since Google doesn't want to specify what factors will be even taken into account, we can only speculate. Sullivan, for example, believes that Google will take into account how many quality links are on the site, what is the overall reputation of the resource, how often do users share content from that source.
