Google tests Gmail personal results adding into search

In order to more deeply integrate personalized search into general, Google adds messages from Gmail into search results.

For example, if users which are in a test group, made the request “Amazon”, than the information from the notification e-shop about its own recent purchases appears on the right of search results.

Google representative Sagar Kamdar noted that Gmail index base is greater than or about the same size as the base, collected by the search engine all over the Internet. And according to Kamdar – it's a serious problem.

You can take the test on the page g.co / searchtrial (will be admitted the first million of subscribers, a small group from the general Google account database owners – 425 million), then to activate this function, it may take several days. After testing, users can disconnect the feature.

Google SVP Amit Singhal said that personalized search by email, may not be limited to Gmail. "We are very willing to work with every email provider,” he said — though, obviously, those email providers would need to sign on (which seems unlikely!) and figure out a way to securely transfer personal data”

Singhal and Kamdar said they expect to add other Google products into personalized search – including Docs, Calendar and Drive – but they haven't identified the time frame of availability.
